As I write this, we are just finishing the Halloween season and honestly, there’s not much scarier than having your personal information or your whole identity stolen. We have mentioned this in previous newsletters and it’s worth revisiting.
We’ve had a number of clients talk to us about things they’ve seen online this year. We’ve also had some people fall victim to online or telephone scams. There are still phony ads promising massive returns which use politicians or celebrities to attract people to their sites. We can’t stress enough how important it is to be skeptical of anything or anyone promising massive returns or easy fixes to complex problems.
Sites like Facebook or X don’t seem to do a very good job of weeding out nonsense or scams. Patrycja, Natalie and I ask that you please check in with us if you find an ad promising extremely high returns. Like I always tell people, money isn’t easy; There just aren’t safe investments that can double your money within a few months. If you receive a phone call from someone saying they are with your cable company, phone company or a financial institution, you are always better to call the company back on their official phone number.
You can also call our office if you are ever suspicious about a call or an email you get. I will remind everyone that one of the most valuable things you get out of having a Financial Planner is that we can be a skeptical set of eyes on things you come across. Anyone who knows me knows how skeptical I can be!! Please reach out if you ever have questions or concerns.
This is tough timing for me to write a newsletter as I have to have it in before the US Election on November 5th. I don’t know which way this thing is going to go, but you will know by the time you read this! What I can say is that up until this point, it’s been an extremely close race. I can also say that the Stock Market hasn’t been afraid of either candidate. The race has been a virtual coin flip since Harris entered it and the US Stock Markets have hit one record high after another1. The US Economy has been the top performing country in the G7 so whoever takes over from here will have a strong economy to work with2. Hoping for the best over the next four years!!
We’ll be going hard up until the Holidays so feel free to reach out and we’ll get a visit in. All the best going into the end of the year.
